Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about our custom orders, such as, birthstone and letter jewelry.
How do I order my custom piece?
We are excited to make a piece
just for you! To order your piece, you may enter your order on the website on
our secure server. We also accept orders via fax and via postal mail. If you
order on the site, click through to the page on the specific piece you are
wanting. Once you get there, there will be detailed information about the
construction and sizing of the piece. There will usually be option bars at the
bottom for you to choose options like your birthstone selections and what sort
of clasp you would like. If you do not see these options and would like your
piece different from the exact photo, there will be a Comments section screen
*after* an order is placed and paid for. It will prompt you to enter any
comments or special requests you would like to send with that order, such as
your shipping requests and size options. Please enter your information there.
You may also contact us before or after your order is placed.
How do I know what
size to order?
We charge a $14 fee for restringing pieces,
plus your return shipping charges, so it’s important to get the size right the
first time. You’ll see several terms on our site about sizing. The flat
size of a bracelet is the length from one end to the other when laying flat. The
interior size is the size of a piece’s interior when closed. This size
can vary from the flat size, due to the diameter of the beads used and it is
much more accurate sizing measurement. Your wrist size is the size of
your wrist measured where you want the piece to be worn. This size can be useful
for you in determining what size piece to order. However, it is important to
keep in mind that some clients like snug pieces, and others like them to be
quite loose, so we cannot necessarily give a standard size piece for each wrist
size. A spring ring or kidney clasp does not need much room to get closed beyond
your wrist size - 1/4” or so. A toggle can need 1/2” or more depending on the
toggle to have enough room to pass the bar through the hole. Be sure to consider
these things when determining what is the right size for you. If you have any
questions, don’t hesitate to contact us for more information, or info on the
general fit a specific piece. The best measurement to send us is the interior
size.
What are “clip-on
dangles”?
These are versatile little wonders! They are
charms or beads hanging from a lobster clasp or spring ring, making it easy to
clip them on and off on any piece you like. We have a wide selection of Clip-On
dangles in more than just family jewelry. You can purchase a dangle in a
birthstone color for a child’s birth month and clip in onto one of your
bracelets one day, and a zipper pull the next and a necklace the next. Your
imagination and creativity is the limit on how you can use these. If you see a
charm or something you’d like a dangle made of, just let us know and we’ll
custom make one just for you. See the dangles FAQ section for more
information.
How do I pay
for my custom order?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American
Express, Paypal, checks and money orders. We authorize credit cards at the time
of your order placement. We do not charge credit cards until the piece has
shipped. We hold orders paid for with check or money order until those have
cleared.
How do I know
you’ve received my custom order?
We will notify you by
email within 24 hours of receiving your order that we have received it and
inform you of any schedule or availability information at that time.
What charms are available?
Here is a link to a photo gallery where you can
see what charms are currently available to add on to any piece or have a dangle
made of. If you are interested in one of the charms, please contact us with the
charm number and we’ll confirm availability. Besides what we have in stock, we
can order almost any charm you desire. This will add some time to when we can
deliver your order, however.
What if I want
something I don’t see? Like part of one bracelet with part of another and/or an
idea of my own?
Great! We’d love to make a pieces that is
a truly special piece just for you or a loved one. The easiest way for us to
send you a quote is for you to contact us with the item numbers or names of the
pieces you want and what parts you like. If you want something completely
different, do your best to describe it to us in an email or fax a picture or
drawing and we’ll come up with an idea and cost quote for you to review before
any charges are incurred. Then we’ll send a link to a photo to approve before
shipment. If a custom item is so different and unique that it is not likely to
be sold to someone else, we may require a non refundable deposit *after* you
approve our design plan and *before* we start work on the piece.
Will my bracelet look
exactly like the one in the photo?
On custom birthstone
and letter jewelry it will most certainly be different, in that it will be the
stones and letters you have selected. There are times that we are out of stock
of a particular bead and will substitute one of equal value and beauty in it’s
place. Rest assured that we will notify you if the piece will be different from
the photo before starting work on your order and you will have a chance to make
any change based on our information before any charges are incurred.
Can I see my custom piece
before it ships to make sure I like it?
In general on
custom pieces, we can easily provide a link to a photo gallery where you can
preview your piece when it is completed and approve it before shipping. Please
let us know in the comments section of your order that you would like to approve
a photo before shipment. After that point, if any changes need to be made based
on your error or a change of mind, there will be a $14 restringing charge. If
there is an error on our part, we will of course restring at no charge. If you
decide you do not want the piece, we reserve the right to charge a restocking
fee to cover our labor for it’s original assembly. If you do not request
approval, we may still send you a link to a photo and ask for it if we did need
to substitute a part.
How
long will it take to receive my custom order?
In general,
custom orders for one piece can be ready to ship within 5 business days. Then
the delivery time will be based on your shipment preferences. If you need a
piece in a rush, you are always welcome to contact us and ask what current
turnaround time is. There may be busy seasons, such as Mother’s Day, when times
are longer. When you place your order for a custom piece, look for an email from
us within 24 hours letting you know the scheduled ship date of your piece. If
you have a certain request for a ship date, let us know that in your comments
section after payment on your order, or simply contact us.
